The Practice Pyramid

Training to Discover, Develop and Apply Integrated Strength is a long game. This article focuses on a high level strategy for establishing and evolving your personal practice. We are going to be using a pyramid as our basic model to see both how an Integrated Strength training program begins and how it matures.

To build our pyramid we will identify 3 types of practice, Formal, Freestyle & Integrated.

Formal practice is where the focus of practice is on performing the exercises and routines typical of the practice. There could be a Formal Practice time, place, uniform, etc.

Freestyle training is where the focus of practice is on exploring the achievements of Formal Practice. We break the rules and freely explore the relationships discovered and developed through our daily training routine.

Integrated Practice is where the focus is not practice at all by applying the achievements from Formal & Freestyle practice to activities in your life both exciting & mundane. Integrated Practice opens up huge potential for achievement as virtually any activity becomes a training opportunity.

Let's take a look at how these 3 types of training fit and work together using our Practice Pyramid.
